SBA to present original plays at Fall Theatre XV

PERU — St. Bede Academy will present three original short plays at its Fall Theatre XV at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Abbey Church Lecture Hall.

The plays were written by the members of the Academy’s Genesius Project, who conceived, plotted and wrote the plays as a group, under the mentorship of drama director Fr. Dominic Garramone. The group met once or twice a week for two months, and also collaborated online via a Facebook page.

Members of The Genesius Project include: Grant Bosnich, Sam Brolley, Barbi Prokup, Sam Rosenberg, Hayden Sartin, MaryCate Smith, Brandon Glynn, Michael Rosenberg and Katie Shields.

The three plays, each about 10 minutes each, have the same basic theme: “What did I ever do to you?”

“Visiting Hour” presents the story of a high school senior who visits her best friend in jail after he makes some bad choices, including stealing and wrecking her car.

“Exactly the Same, Entirely Different” is about a student with a learning disability who is bullied by a teacher.

“Busker and Beggar” features a man who has become homeless through no fault of his own, and can’t understand why no one will help him get back on his feet.

The cast of Fall Theatre XV includes: MaryCate Smith, Steven Gualandri, Ernie Steinz, Barbi Prokup, Grace Kinsella, Sophie Flodstrom, Colin Giordano, Min Hwang, Hayden Sartin, Baily Wilson, Kaitlyn Smith, Alyssa Rossman, Katie Shields, Brandon Glynn and Sam Rosenberg.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children, and are available in the Academy school office and at the door.
