Franklin will ‘jujitsu’ his way to Europe

The training, along with the discipline it takes to train outside the dojo, have helped him focus on what he needs to do rather than what he wants to do, Franklin said.

“Of course with any exercise I have become physically stronger but it goes deeper than that,” Franklin said. “I have a much better understanding of body mechanics and how you can train yourself to do things you never thought that you could.”

The son of Dennis and Jeannie Franklin of Cherry, Franklin is a junior at Western Illinois University, majoring in law enforcement justice administration and minoring in homeland security and sociology.
