The North Central Regional Betterment Coalition has acknowledged the accomplishments of area teachers who have achieved National Board Certification.

National Board Certified Teachers are highly accomplished educators who meet high and rigorous standards through intensive study, expert evaluation, self-assessment and peer review. NB Certification is recognized by the National Research Council as having a positive impact on student achievement, teacher retention, and professional development. There are 97,293 NBCTs nationwide, with 5,153 in Illinois.

Area teachers include: Jill Thompson, Ohio; Sandy Lambert, Spring Valley; and Romaine Albrecht, Susan Berry, Terry Drawyer, Heather Minssen and Amy Cambron, Bureau Valley.
