PRINCETON —The Princeton Public Library will be closed today, Thursday, and Friday for Thanksgiving.
On Monday, the Princeton Theater Group will meet at 3:30 p.m.; and the Journey Stories movie will be shown at 6:30 p.m. The film tells the story of four New York families at the turn of the 20th century; and starving immigrant artist Tateh sets off to make his fortune in Hollywood.
On Tuesday, United Health Care will meet at 9:30 a.m.; and preschool story hour will be held with the theme, “Music.” All area preschoolers and their parents/guardians are welcome to attend. Also, The Dangerous Boys Path: Journeys on Boats with Rachel Bystry will be at 3:30 p.m.; and Journeys — The Native American Path: Mike Kohr will present a talk at 6:30 p.m. on the history of travel in Illinois before it was settled.
On Wednesday, the Journeys Matinee will be shown at 1:30 p.m. Five orphan dinosaurs travel the ruins of their world, while grieving the loss of their families and banding together to face the odds of survival.
On Nov. 29, after school crafts will be offered from 3:30 to 5 p.m.; and the Journeys: Dinner Table Program: Come and Get It will be held at 6:30 p.m. Robert Dirks, emeritus professor of anthropology, Illinois State University, discusses the changing foodways of the Midwest, from self-sufficiency to fast food and supermarket convenience foods. The program is hosted by the Bureau County Farm Bureau.
SPRING VALLEY — Monday is “Book Chat” — a young adult book club — at the Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library. Call the library for details at 815-663-4741.
Story time with Ms. Jeri is held every Tuesday from 5:30 until 6 p.m. in the children’s room. There is a story and a craft-related project during this time for preschool children through third grade. A parent must accompany their child. This is free of charge.
Nov. 29 is “Trim our tree party.” Bring your family and help the library decorate its Christmas tree! Christmas music, cookies and games will be offered. Come and get in the Christmas spirit. The library is asking each family to donate one Christmas ornament for the tree that will used year after year. Those who participate should feel free to mark their ornament with their family’s name. The party will start at 6 p.m. and will wrap up at 7 p.m. Please call the library to sign up at 815-663-4741.

LADD — The Ladd Public Library offers preschool storytimes on the first and third Monday of each month. These sessions are designed for 2 to 5 year olds with a parent or guardian. Each session consists of stories, activities and crafts.

LAMOILLE — The LaMoille-Clarion Library will be closed all day on Thanksgiving Day and Friday. Normal hours will resume Saturday.
PERU — The Peru Public Library holds a story time for children 3-5 at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday. Children will hear stories, sing songs, dance and learn finger plays. Registration is not required. Visit www.perulibrary.org or call 815-223-0229, ext. 5, for more information.
