Lighting contest, parade set in Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY — Registrations for the Spring Valley Boosters’ holiday home lighting contest is Nov. 30 at the city clerk’s office. A $5 donation to the SV Boosters is asked.

Judging will begin Dec. 2. Maps will be available online or at the city clerk’s office the week of Dec. 3.

The lighted Santa parade will begin at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 at Hall High School. The parade will travel from Hall, west on St. Paul to Greenwood Street, then north of Greenwood to city hall.

Santa will exit at city hall and be inside the community room after the parade for visits. Float participants may exit from city hall or park for viewing. Refreshments will be available inside the community room. Parade registrations are due by Nov. 30.

This year’s theme is “Christmas memories.” Everyone is invited to participate. Entries may be floats, vehicles or walkers — all must be lighted.

Forms are available at: www.spring-valley.il.us. They may be dropped off at the city clerk’s office, faxed to 815-664-2114 or e-mailed to sveconomics@comcast.net.
