Retirement open house

PRINCETON — An open house to celebrate the retirement of Bureau County Circuit Clerk Laurie Abrahams is from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday in the second floor jury room at the Bureau County Courthouse.

Donations needed

PRINCETON — Princeton Shell is looking for help in decorating a tree in its store with donations of hats, gloves and scarfs. In return, they will donate them to needy children in the community.

Dinner for seniors

PRINCETON — The Princeton Moose Family Center will host its 32nd annual seniors dinner on Sunday at the Moose Lodge. This dinner is for seniors age 62 and over. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m., with dinner to be served at 12:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the Generics Goodies Band. For reservations, call 815-915-8315 between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Christmas service

SHEFFIELD — The annual interdenominational Christmas service at the historic St. Peter’s Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sheffield will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 16. Area clergy and several area musicians will participate in the event. Refreshments will be served at the Sheffield Community Center after the service.

Giant cookie sale

PRINCETON — A giant cookie sale, sponsored by the Bureau County Home and Community Education Association (HCE), will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Prouty Building on Main Street. There will be dozens of homemade cookies, and decorated Christmas trees with holiday items for sale.

Meeting set

WYANET — The Wyanet Golden Eagles will meet for the last time in 2012 at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Main Street BBQ. Lunch will be pay for your own. Reservations can be made at 815-699-2222. All seniors 50 and over are welcome. For more information, call Louise at 815-699-7768.

Benefit planned

PRINCETON — A benefit for Devin Cole, a seventh-grader at Bureau Valley South in Buda, will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Bureau County Fairgrounds in Princeton. Devin was recently diagnosed with brainstem ganglioglioma, a rare brain tumor. Proceeds from the benefit will assist with his medical treatment. Entertainment will be provided by D & G DJs. A silent auction will also be held. Tickets, which includes dinner and two drinks, are $15 for adults, $10 for students. For more information, call 815-699-4012.

‘A Tuna Christmas’

PRINCETON — Festival 56 will present “A Tuna Christmas,a comedy where two actors portray all 24 eccentric residents of Tuna, Texas, as they attempt to organize the town’s Christmas festivities, at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22; and at 2 p.m. Dec. 9, 15 and 22 at the Grace Performing Arts Center, 316 S. Main St., Princeton.
