Holy Trinity Cherry holds sweater drive

CHERRY – Holy Trinity Cherry following up on last year’s highly successful winter coat drive, this November completed its first sweater, glove, scarf drive, collecting sweaters for distribution to various local entities that benefit the underprivileged and elderly.

Father Patrick Fixsen of Holy Trinity Cherry commented “We were proud and excited about last year’s effort and we’re equally happy with the strong support shown by our parishioners and others that made donations this year. There will be many needy and elderly people in the area who will be able to keep warmer as the winter sets in.”

Local entities that have received and are distributing these sweaters include Lilly Pads Boutique in Peru. PADS was established in 1991 by Illinois Valley Public Action to deliver shelter and other services to the needy and have assisted more than 3,500 individuals including 400 children. PADS also houses Lilly Pads Boutique which will utilize sweaters from Holy Trinity Cherry to provide to their needy clients at no charge. To learn more go to www.ivpads.com/Lily%20Pads.html.
