Leonard Jesiolowski

SPRING VALLEY — Leonard "Tex" Jesiolowski, 90, of 748 Old North Road, Spring Valley, died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at his home.

Born Jan. 16, 1922, in LaSalle to Adam and Anastasia (Stachowiak) Jesiolowski, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Baxter Sept. 11, 1948, in St. Anne Catholic Church in Spring Valley. She died July 31, 2003.

He worked for Illinois Power Co. in the engineering department for 33 years, retiring in 1984.

He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Spring Valley and Spring Valley American Legion. He was also a retired Spring Valley volunteer fireman and was a former Red Coat volunteer at St. Margaret's Hospital. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran, serving from 1942 to 1945.

Surviving are one son, Steven (Virginia) Jesiolowski of Hollowayville; three daughters, Susan (Robert) Orlandi, Carol (Terry) Maltas and Lori (special friend Steve Patrick) Himelick, all of Spring Valley; one daughter-in-law, Charisse Jesiolowski of Walnut; one sister-in-law, Mary Jesiolowski of LaSalle; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one granddaughter; four brothers, Ralph, Raymond, Edwin and the Rev. Sylvester Jesiolowski; and one sister, Virginia O'Niel.

Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Spring Valley, with the Rev. Robert Spilman officiating. Burial will be in St. Hyacinth Cemetery, LaSalle.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where a Legion service will be at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
