PRINCETON — Robert E. Michel, 84, of Princeton passed away Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.
He was born July 30, 1928, in Chicago to Irwin and Marcella (Carlson) Michel. He married Miriam Hamailman Feb. 19, 1955, in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Ingleside. She preceded him in death in 2006. He then married Mary Rempfer Horn April 7, 2008, in Princeton. She survives.
He graduated from Fox Lake High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. He worked as a lithographer at Collin Miller Hutchins for numerous years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Also surviving are one daughter, Susan (Peter) Ridley of New Zealand; one son, Jeffrey (Diane) Michel of Gainesville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; one brother, Kenneth (Sylvia) Michel of Pennsylvania; and one sister in-law, Taimi (William) Putzbach.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Miriam in 2006; and one son, Paul Michel.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Presbyterian Church in Princeton with the Rev. Brian Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Princeton.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
