Time to speak up

For the past five months I’ve been praying daily for some friends and church members who have lost loved one’s through death. It is not entertaining, and their grief is very deep and real.

Our nation has been strong for more than 200 years because it is a government for the people and by the people. Things happen because people are involved. But sadly, things also happen because people are not involved. People working together solve problems.

Hitler was a charismatic speaker, as was Lenin, Mussolini and many others. Hmmmmm .... Who deems what race has value to live? Who deems when life begins? Hitler had his death camps. America has its death camps.

Abortion has become a very lucrative business. The mother’s womb, which should be the safest place for children, has become a death camp. Our nation has just elected for a second term a president who puts his stamp of approval on partial birth abortion. What crime have they committed to deserve capital punishment? You talk about cruel and unusual punishment. The problem is we don’t bring these dark things into the light.

Why do we murder these children while still in the womb or partially delivered? For fear our sex sin may be found out? Embarrassment by pious and strict parents? Because others may look down on us? Because they will be an inconvenienced? Because we prefer the color blue instead of pink? Or because in defiance we raise our fist in the face of God and say, it’s my right!

There is a true story in the Bible about three men who were put to death as criminals — two were guilty; one was not. Today their method of death would be considered as cruel and unusual. It was crucifixion. The Bible speaks a lot about love, but it also speaks a lot about justice and judgment and of Heaven and Hell as being very real places. The idea of Jesus dying for us requires serious thought; we need to intensely think it through, for he didn’t die simply as a martyr or as an example of sacrificial love when he died for you and me.
