Tiskilwa Country Christmas set for Dec. 8

TISKILWA — It seems hard to believe that it’s been seven years since Tiskilwa Historical Society began a small December event with a quaint “Church Walk” through the village’s four churches on Main Street. Since then, the Tiskilwa Community Association (TCA) has continued to increase its participation and support. And this year, TCA will sponsor and organize the “Walk Tiskilwa” event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 8, with a new name: “Tiskilwa’s Country Christmas.”

The Tiskilwa Historical Society will participate in many features during Country Christmas including the tree-decorating contest, collecting food and paper items for the Bureau County Food Pantry, and hosting an afternoon concert by the Bureau County Chorus, THS will organize the fundraising luncheon provided by Tiskilwa’s church members and offer a few surprises at the Museum on Main, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Country Christmas day.

The board of directors is inviting Tiskilwa Historical Society members to “Catch the Spirit” and join them at the Museum on Main at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 3, to deck the halls with holiday cheer. When the transformation is complete, all the decorators will share a Piccolo’s pizza and salad at the museum.
