Auxiliary workshop set

PRINCETON — American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton will conduct its annual Christmas gift bag workshop for local veterans at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 12 at the post home. Members may call Clara Pease, chairman, at 815-872-0430 for needed items for the workshop.

The gift bags will be filled with various items, including the “Gifts to Yanks Who Gave” (GTTY) gift items that are made available to the Unit through donations to the Legion “GTTY” program. The program has been in place since 1944 for hospitalized veterans of World War II, Korea and other conflicts where U.S. soldiers are needed.

The Unit prepares treat sacks for the local veterans in four nursing and retirement homes in the area every month and the December Christmas gift bag workshop is a special time for the Unit and the veterans. Monetary donations are always welcome for this and all other veterans projects and can be sent to chairperson Clara Pease at 321 Briar Lane, Princeton, Il. 61356; or send same to American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary
Unit 125, 1549 W. Peru St., Princeton, IL 61356, Attn: Veterans.
