Final election results announced

PRINCETON — Bureau County Clerk Kami Hieronymus has confirmed two unofficial local winners in the Nov. 6 election are now the official winners.

At the end of the Nov. 6 election day, the preliminary results for the Bureau County Circuit Clerk race showed Mary Romanelli Dremann beating challenger Dawn Reglin by only 97 votes. Also, the Bureau County Board District 15 race showed incumbent Mike Maynard beating Republican challenger Weldon Wilkinson by a 275 to 272 vote. However, 124 absentee ballots were still out and could have been received and counted by a Nov. 20 deadline.

On Tuesday, Hieronymus said only 31 late ballots were returned by the Nov. 20 deadline. The final vote in the circuit clerk race was 8,125 for Dremann and 8,026 for Reglin. The late ballots did not affect the District 15 county board race, with Maynard still winning the seat by three votes.
