Janice Roach

BELVIDERE — Janice Dawn Roach, 77, of Belvidere died peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, in Northwoods Care Center after a short illness.

Janice was born Feb. 5, 1935, the daughter of Russell and Edna (Roderick) Hyde in Boone County, Ill. Janice was a member of the United Methodist Church from her baptism at age 4 until her marriage to John A. Roach on July 16, 1955. Janice was a graduate of Belvidere high School in 1953. She attended Continental Academy of Beauty Culture in Elgin. She graduated from the Academy and received her Illinois Beauticians licenses in 1961. Jan operated her beauty shop from her home for 24 years at rural Kirkland. She was a Bible School teacher at Kirkland United Methodist Church where she was a former member. Jan was also a leader in Cub Scouting for Two Rivers Council and served as a den mother, awards chairman and committee chairman. She started and instructed 24 boys and six girls in Indian dancing and led them for two years in parades and special occasions. The group was known as the Two Rivers Warriors. In June of 1990, Jan, John and their sons moved to Belvidere.

Jan is loved and will be missed by her sons, Neal (Maureen) of Downs, Ill., and Jay (Paula) Roach of Belvidere; three granddaughters, Brandi, Becci and Katy; one grandson, James; and one brother, Ronald (Margaret) Hyde of Irene.
