Henry Flitz

CORALLVILLE, Iowa — Henry E. Flitz, 83, of Coralville, Iowa, died peacefully at his home in Coralville, Iowa, on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012.


Henry was born July 13, 1929 in Litchfield, the son of John and Mary Bohlen Flitz. Henry was a graduate of Blackburn College and also received a master’s degree in agriculture from the University of Illinois. He served his country as a captain in the U.S. Air Force. Henry was employed for many years as a district director with the Farmers Home Administration.


On July 2, 1949, Henry and Elynor Stapp, the love of his life, eloped and were married in Petosi, Mo. Henry (“Red”) and Elynor (“Ely”) lived in Princeton for many years, later moved to Texas and subsequently made Coralville, Iowa, their summer home.
