Amboy was the place to be for three area basketball teams in Saturday’s Amboy Shootout.

In girls’ play, a trio of double-figure scorers — Daniela Pavlovich (11), Carl Gonet (11) and Megan Rehn (10) — made the difference for Putnam County in a 49-37 win over Galva.

The St. Bede Lady Bruins lost to Elmhurst Immaculate Conception 41-36. The Lady Bruins, who held a brief lead in the third quarter, had a shot to pull within three with under a minute to play, but missed the shot attempt.

Mo Dean led the Lady Bruins with 22 points.

On the boys’ side, St. Bede fell to Immaculate Conception, 67-65 in double overtime. Brad Groleau led the Bruins with 15 points and Joe Pyszka had 14, Bobby Morrow 13 and Sam Lucas 10.

Boys’ basketball

River Ridge 67, Princeton 55: Tiger coach Jesse Brandt said the Tigers had a poor half defensively, falling behind 39-31 at intermission, and never recovered in Saturday’s Shootout action at Eastland.

Senior post Cole Evenson led the Tigers with 19 points and “played hard as usual, and did a nice job for us again,” Brandt said.

Josh Kieffer had 12 points and Austen Stewart added nine for PHS, which travels to Rochelle on Tuesday.

IVC 68, St. Bede 55: Joe Pyszka scored 21 points, but the Bruins came up short Friday in NCIC play at the Academy. Sam Lucas added 10 points and Brad Groleau had nine.

Hall 64, Peoria Christian 63: Brett Fanning netted 22 points as the Red Devils edged the Chargers in Tri-County Conference play Friday at Red Devil Gymnasium.

Henry 56, Midland 37: Trent Richards led the Mallards to a Tri-County Conference victory with 15 points Friday. Nathan Helle added 12 points and Ryan Gondt and Kyle Henderson had 11 each.

DePue 50, Lowpoint-Washburn 36: The Little Giants opened the season in the win column on road Friday, paced by Jose Raya’s 20 points. Isaac Reyes added 14.

Girls’ basketball

Newman 72, Bureau Valley 21: The Lady Comets shut the Storm out 26-0 in the third quarter to extend a 40-15 halftime lead to 66-16. Jazmine Delbridge and Nicole Bornsheuer each scored four points for the Storm (1-7, 0-2).
