The 2012 BVEC championship game came down to the top two seeds Thursday at Ohio where No. 2 seed Ladd defeated No. 1 DePue 20-19.
Kyle Follmer led Ladd with six points and Kieran Trevier and Gage Ripka added five points each. For DePue, David Moreno scored 11 points and Edgar Moreno added seven.
The third-place game was also highly contested with Neponset edging Bureau Valley South 26-23. Austin Thumma led the Bobcats with 10 points and Camron Rohrig and Levi Shores added seven each, Endress and Alex Elmore scored eight apiece for the Storm and Matt Paup-Caudill added seven.
In Wednesday’s semifinals, DePue beat Neponset 31-26 and Ladd edged BV South 32-30. Leading scorers were David Moreno (12) and Gavin Garcia (10) for DePue, Rohrig (12) for Neponset, Trevier (12) for Ladd and Paup-Caudill (12) and Spencer Marquez (10) for BVS.
