Princeton Public Library seals cornerstone

PRINCETON — The Princeton Public Library sealed its cornerstone at 4 p.m. Friday.

The cornerstone holds a time capsule containing, among other things, newspaper articles on the library’s move from the Matson Public Library building on Park Avenue West to the Princeton Public Library building at 698 E. Peru St., a Princeton area phone book from 2007 and first edition copies of best-read books at Princeton Public Library for 2007, including “Nineteen Minutes” by Jodi Picoult, “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini, “Whale Talk” by Chris Crutcher and “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” by J.K. Rowling.

Also included in the capsule are thank you notes sent by children of Reagan Middle School following their visit to the library’s 2012 “Journey Stories” exhibit.

Plans are for the time capsule to be opened in 2057, 50 years after the dedication of the current library building.
