Annawan clips St. Bede in battle of I-80
Two of the best two girls’ basketball teams on the Interstate 80 corridor met in Annawan Saturday where the host Bravettes topped St. Bede 61-42.
Annawan (9-0), ranked second in Class 1A, jumped to a 20-9 first-quarter lead and never looked back.
“I saw some good things and some bad things this afternoon from us. I am hoping most of the bad is due to the fact we have not played in over a week,” AHS coach Jason Burkiewicz said. “As a team, we did not shoot the ball particularly well tonight. I think our shooting percentage took a hit tonight, but I fully expect us to bounce back from that.
