Food court

MANLIUS — The Bureau Valley High School freshmen class will sponsor a food court beginning at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 11 in the school commons during the Bureau Valley vs. Amboy boys’ basketball game. Proceeds from the event will go toward the costs incurred when the Class of 2016 sponsors its prom. Tickets will be available at the door.

Blood drive

PRINCETON — Princeton Public Library will host a community blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. Friday in the meeting room at the library. A photo ID or donor card is required. Donors who last gave blood on or before Nov. 9 are eligible. Appointments can be made by calling Julie Wayland at 815-875-1331.

Fundraiser

WALNUT — The Walnut Public Library will hold a chili fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Walnut Community Center, 129 S. Main St. in Walnut. Advance tickets are available at Citizen’s First State Bank, First Federal Bank and Walnut Public Library. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for ages 6-12 and seniors age 60 and over.

Quilter’s Guild to meet

HENRY — The Marshall Putnam Quilter’s Guild will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Henry Presbyterian Church. Lunch will be “on your own” and there will be no program. There will be a workshop to make either a bargello flag or heart. The cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members and includes the pattern. DAR to meet

PRINCETON — The Princeton-Illinois chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Prouty Building in Princeton. The program, “War of 1812 - The town that fooled the British,” will be presented by Jane Lampkin and Lois Peterson. Hostesses are chairman Lois Peterson, Mary Allen, Barbara Heuer and Jane Lampkin.

Teacher appreciation dinner

PRINCETON — The Women’s Committee of the Bureau County Farm Bureau will host a teacher appreciation dinner and Ag in the Classroom training lesson Jan. 16 at the Farm Bureau office in Princeton. The program, with hands on activities, will begin at 4 p.m. and conclude at 6 p.m. CPDUs will be available. Any educator in Bureau County interested in attending should contact the Farm Bureau office by Jan. 14.
