PRINCETON — Today, Thursday, a Christmas after-school craft day will be held at the Princeton Public Library from 3:30 to 5 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., the Dinner Table Program will feature a cookie exchange. Bring a dozen/take a dozen of your favorite holiday cookies or treats and share a story about them, be it a favorite memory or how they are part of your family heritage.
The library will be closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for Christmas break.
On Dec. 27, a Christmas after-school Craft Day will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., a Dinner Table Program — Dressing the Table: Setting the table for the holidays in three different eras, from 19th century formality, to mid-century modern, to today’s contemporary look. Flowers by Julia and Hoffman’s Patterns of the Past will describe how the fashion reflects the life and times of each.
TISKILWA — Special holiday hours will be in effect at the Tiskilwa Public Library. The library will be closed Monday and Tuesday. It will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 31 and then closed on New Year’s Day. Library Director Karyn Stark wishes a “Happy holidays to all our patrons and thank you to all who donated to the food pantry at the library.”
The next book club/dinner discussion will take place at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 21. “The Chaperone” by Laura Moriarty is inspired by the life of silent-film star Louise Brooks. It is the story of two women who could not be more different, and the summer that changed them both.
LADD — “A Taste of Ladd” cookbooks have arrived at the Ladd Public Library and are available for sale. This book is packed with 487 recipes contributed by the residents of Ladd and surrounding communities. Copies of the book are currently priced at $14 with a special “buy 10, get 1 free” offer and may be purchased at the library, Ladd Village Hall or Special Effects.
The library continues to hold its pre-school story times on the first and third Monday of each month at 10:30 a.m.
LAMOILLE — There has been some interest in starting an evening book club at the LaMoille-Clarion Library. If you are interested in joining, call the library at 815-638-2356.
Computer classes are going well. The second group of students will be starting after the holidays. Computer classes are open to all ages, children and adults. Classes are ongoing; when one group finishes another one starts. If you are interested in doing job searches or a resume, please contact the library. The library is an Illinois workNet partner and is here to help you reach your goals.

SPRING VALLEY — Story time with Ms. Jeri is held at the Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library every Tuesday from 5:30 until 6 p.m. in the children’s room. There is a story and a craft-related project during this time for preschool children through third grade. A parent must accompany their child. This is free of charge.
PERU — The Peru Public Library holds a story time for children ages 3 through 5 at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday. Children will hear stories, sing songs, dance and learn finger plays. Registration is not required. Visit www.perulibrary.org or call 815-223-0229, ext. 5, for more information.
