Smith lifts Bruins to victory
Damin Smith’s two free throws with 1.2 seconds lifted St. Bede to an 84-83 win over Kewanee Wethersfield at the Academy Tuesday night. The Bruins led 41-29 at halftime, but needed every bit of Smith’s heroics. He led the Bruins with 23 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter. The Bruins also got solid production from Brad Groleau (18 points), Sam Lucas (17) and Joe Pyszka (13). The loss was the first of the year for Wethersfield, now 8-1.
