IVCC’s Schwab named Player of the Week

Illinois Valley Community College sophomore guard Alec Schwab of Peru has been named Region IV, District A, Division II player of the week.

Schwab, a graduate of St. Bede Academy, scored 53 points, including a season-high 33 in a pair of wins over Ancilla, Ind., and the Aurora University junior varsity. He shot six of 10 from three -point range, had five steals and four assists in the two games combined.

With 10 wins against only three losses, IVCC is off to its best start in years. The Eagles next game is at 2 p.m. Jan. 7 at Chicago’s United Center vs. Prairie State. The team and fans will then stay for the 7 p.m. Bulls vs. Cleveland Cavaliers game.
