PRINCETON — John O. Bales, 79, of Princeton passed away at 6:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, in his home.
Born April 7, 1933, in Royal Oak, Mo., to Oliver and Alice (Willard) Bales, he married Mary Jane Galiher April 6, 1957, in the Hennepin United Methodist Church in Hennepin.
He was retired from Caterpillar Tractor and was a member of the Oglesby American Legion.
Surviving are one son, Don (Tammy) Bales of Princeton; one daughter, Lisa Wren of LaSalle; three grandchildren, Ashley and Kyle Bales, and Maysen Wren; three brothers, Willard (Olive) Bales of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Bill (Joanne) Bales of West Plaines, Mo., and Jack (Marge) Bales of High Ridge, Mo.; and two sisters, Ellen Morris and Jo Williams, both of Thomasville, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Don Bales; and one son-in-law, Brent Wren in 2010.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Helmer-Shields Funeral Home, Granville, with Youth Minister Curtis O'Dell officiating. Burial will be in the Granville Cemetery with full military honors by the Granville American Legion and VFW. The U.S. Army will have a flag folding ceremony.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home and one hour prior to the services Thursday in the funeral home.
