Woman’s Auxiliary Unit 125 fills gift bags

PRINCETON — American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton filled 44 Christmas gift bags full with all sorts of items on Dec. 12 at the post home.

The Unit fills treat sacks each month with December being a very special month for everyone giving and receiving. Items in the gift bags were fresh fruit, “Gifts to the Yanks Who Gave” (GTTY) items, new 2013 calendars, new socks, personal care items, candies, Christmas cookies, snack cakes, special diet foods, puzzle books, tissues, puddings and a home-made Christmas card made by Kristi Johnson, VA&R chair Clara Pease’s granddaughter. The GTTY gift items are part of the Legion program that the Woman’s Auxiliary donate to each year to realize the gifts for the local veterans in the four nursing and retirement homes that the Unit serves each month.

For information regarding eligible membership in the Auxiliary, call Carol Allicks at 815-872-7891 or the Legion home at 815-872-1171 and leave a message.
