BV FFA attends Agronomy CDE

The Bureau Valley FFA Chapter attended the Section 3 Agronomy CDE hosted by AlWood High School at Black Hawk East Nov. 15. The chapter took nine students, making up one team and four individuals. Bureau Valley’s team took eighth place with 1,020 points; Maddie Dahl had the high score of 447 points. The contest consisted of four parts. The first part was a 25 question test about agronomy practices. This was followed by weed identification where the students identified 25 weeds on a slideshow. The third part was a seed identification to determine the difference between seeds (such as corn or sunflower). The team finished the contest with the fourth practicum judging corn, soybean, wheat, oats, hay and silage — placing the grain from the first to fourth level of quality.
