LaMoille FFA to build greenhouse

LAMOILLE — The LaMoille High School FFA is kicking off its 2012-13 school year with building a greenhouse; it will be built behind the school. Illinois Women in Agriculture gave the FFA a grant for the greenhouse. They heard about the bee project and that the students wanted to build a greenhouse, and they were more than willing to help.

The FFA also started “The Bee Project” at the end of last year. The chapter built and painted its own bee boxes with the help of teacher Dan Fitzpatrick. The FFA also have its own beehive, suit, smoker, etc. and is hoping to harvest its own honey this year.

Last year, the club visited the John Deere Historic Site in Grand Detour and got to see John Deere’s house and work shed. Also the club participated in the Envirothon and are hoping to go back again this year. Another field trip was taken to John Deere Pavilion in Moline.
