Mary Taets
PRINCETON — Mary M. Taets, 90, formerly of Sheffield, a resident of Liberty Village in Princeton, died there on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012.
Mary Van Poucke was born March 19, 1922, in Erie, Ill., the daughter of Oscar and Clara (Van Lancker) Van Poucke. She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing, Kewanee, in 1943 and worked there as a nurse for a few years after graduating. On Sept. 25, 1946, she married Marvin Taets in Kewanee. He survives.
She is a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sheffield, and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church. She is also a member of St. Francis Nurse Alumni Association. Mary had been an active 4-H leader for several years. She loved sewing and cooking for family and friends. In her later years she enjoyed playing games and cards and doing word searches.
