Next HCCA event set for Jan. 17

The next Heritage Corridor Community Associates event will be Jan. 17.

Members and guests will have the rare opportunity to travel to The Art Institute of Chicago by bus to learn about the role of an art curator. They will be introduced to Gloria Groom, an internationally acclaimed lecturer and author on 19th century French painting. Her position as an art curator for the museum often includes research, buying art, gallery installations, lectures and travel.

At the Art Institute, Groom has been involved in major loan exhibitions. Since 2009 she has led the on-going line collection catalog project for the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings. She will share her experiences, including the highs and lows of organizing an exhibition. Her focus will be stories and events concerning the exhibition, “Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity,” which will be presented at the Art Institute in June 2013.
