Tigers fall to Reapers

PLANO — The Prince-ton Tigers went down in defeat 50-42 to the host Plano Reapers in the nightcap of the opening day of the 50th annual Plano Christmas Classic.

Plano took a 14-11 first-quarter lead before opening up a 27-16 halftime lead. The Tigers outscored the Reapers 18-13 in the fourth quarter, but could not make up enough ground.

J.J. Vaccaro was high-point man for the Tigers with 13 points. Josh Kieffer added 10 points, Austin Mack netted eight and Zach Stroud had seven.

The Tigers will return to action at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the auxiliary gym vs. Somonauk, which fell to 10th-seeded Ottawa 93-64.

The Mendota Trojans (9-2) make their debut as the fourth seed, facing No. 13 Aurora Christian at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. AC was a 63-54 winner over Saturday

The tourney starts back up at 9 a.m. Wednesday with Wilmington facing No. 5 HBR.

Kittens win: The Princeton sophs opened tournament play with a 45-43 win over Streator. Garrett Duffin had 16 points and Jake Reinhardt added 11. PHS, the fifth seed, will face No. 2 Genoa-Kingston, a 53-49 winner over No. 12 Yorkville at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The Mendota sophs posted a 39-27 win over Seneca. They will play top-seeded Rockford Christian at 10:15 a.m. Thursday.
