IVAC to hold breakfast seminar

PERU — The Illinois Valley Area Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development (IVAC) Business will hold its breakfast seminar at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 9 at Mario’s Maples Supper Club in Peru. The topic of the seminar will be “The Business of Education: Perspectives of Three Local School Leaders.”

While funded by public tax dollars, prekindergarten through 12th-grade education is not only a local form of government, it is also a big local business. The superintendents of the three largest local school districts will share facts, details and their perspectives on our school systems, including funding, changing demographics, finances and the local economy, cooperative and shared services and the ongoing transformation in how we educate and meet the needs of our children. There will also be time for questions and answers at the end of the presentation.

The seminar will be presented by Mark R. Cross, superintendent, Peru Elementary School District 124; Daniel F. Marenda, superintendent, LaSalle Elementary School District 122; and Steven R. Wrobleski, superintendent, LaSalle-Peru Township High School District 120.
