Robert Doyle

PRINCETON — Robert L. Doyle, 68, of Princeton passed away suddenly Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012.

Born Sept. 9, 1944, in Chicago to Steve A. and Jeanne (Reilly) Doyle, he married Cathy Williams Sept. 25, 1971, in Chicago. She survives.

He was a Chicago police officer for 32 years.

He had served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. He was past commander of Princeton American Legion Post 125 and Princeton AMVETS Post 180, and a member of the Princeton VFW and Fraternal Order of Police, with which he had served as trustee.

Also surviving are two brothers, Hugh (Doris) Doyle of Rockford and Rich (Sheri) Doyle of Des Plaines, Ill.; and one sister, Eileen (James) Chauvin of Anaheim, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.

A veterans memorial service will be held at a later date with burial to be held at a later date in the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.

Memorials may be directed to the Princeton American Legion Post 125.

The Fiocchi-Jensen Funeral Home, Princeton, is in charge of arrangements.
