Ottawa cops Plano crown

Tenth-seeded Ottawa ran all the way for the championship of the Plano Christmas Classic, upsetting top-seeded and defending champion Belvidere 55-53.

Aurora Christian beat Kaneland 54-46 for third place.

Princeton fell to former NCIC foe Streator 41-38 in the final night of the Plano Christmas Classic. Zach Stroud had 12 points and Austen Stewart had 10 points.

The Tigers will return to action Friday at St. Bede.

At Prophetstown

Hall 51, West Carroll 40: The Lady Devils made due with six players in uniform to defeat the Thunder for seventh place Saturday. Hall was led by Ellen Herr-mann (17 points), Beka Dagraedt (15) and Kaylee Golden (11).

Riverdale 70, Hall 35: Sisters Ellen (11) and Becca (10) Herrmann accounted for 21 points for the Lady Devils in Friday’s loss.

At Erie

Galva 43, Bureau Valley 26: Nicole Bornsheuer led the Storm with 10 points.
