Biggest Losers ... Bureau County-style

PRINCETON — Forty-two area residents are competing against each other in teams of six in a weight-loss program sponsored by the Bureau County Metro Center in Princeton.

Program coordinator Beth Weger said the new program is similar to the Thin to Win program co-sponsored for several years by the Metro Center and the Bureau County Republican. The new program is a bit more informal with team captains being responsible for the weekly weigh-ins, and team members being responsible for their own fitness programs and routines. The new program was developed after the Metro Center had received requests from the public through Facebook for a Thin-to-Win type program, Weger said.

This year’s teams are made up of husbands and wives, co-workers, cousins and friends, a wedding party, and a church group, Weger said. Names for this year’s teams are Bunch of Losers, Mission Slim-Possible, In It to Win It, Faithful Losers, Centrue Cares (sponsored by Centrue Bank), the Douglas School team, and Colonial’s Classy Chicks (employees of Colonial Hall Rehabilitation and Nursing Center).
