Neponset Village Board 12-19

NEPONSET — The Neponset Village Board took action on the following items at its meeting Dec. 19:

• Approved adopting the state's gambling ordinance, following a request from Holly Weida, owner of the Oasis Bar.

• Approved an ordinance authorizing sale of municipal-owned property at 114 Main St. E.

• Heard Trustee Ken Snyder will furnish the post to install the new no parking sign for the area where snow will be put when the streets are cleared.

• Discussed the police radio update. Trustee John Pratt will take the police car to Princeton for the update. The village will purchase a hand-held radio from GEM Electronic in Monmouth for $310 for the radio and $49 for the microphone/speaker option if police feel it is needed.

• Received a check from Neponset Pride for $1,500 to help with the repairs to the community building.

• Heard the first preliminary water test results came back for the water after the installation of the new filter system, and the numbers were far below minimum limits.

• Heard Clarence Ingles is building cabinets and work tables for the filter building and old pump house.

• Heard shut off notices will be sent out regarding water bills.

• Reviewed the new permit sticker for ATVs and golf carts.

• Heard Village President Carl Rohrig had a few complaints from residents that board members will look in to.

• Approved the annual tax levy ordinance.

• Accepted the proposal from Sullivan Door Co. to install a new garage door opener to the garage attached to the village hall.

• Tabled the parking ordinance until 2013.

• Discussed borrowing portable heaters for the community building until the furnace is repaired.
