Fundraiser planned

MANLIUS — The Bureau Valley High School Drama Club will hold a cabaret fundraiser at 7 p.m. Jan. 13 and 14. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. each night. Coffee and baked good will be available for no charge but donations would be appreciated. Tickets are $5. The cabaret is a student-run night. Each student who is participating wrote, directed and produced the numbers that will be shown at the cabaret.

Book sale

PRINCETON — Friends of the Princeton Public Library will hold its “Third Thursday of the Month” used book sale from 2 to 8 p.m. Jan. 17 in the sale room at the library. The complete inventory of books will be for sale with a wide selection of paperbacks and hardbacks at clearance prices.

GFWC meeting

PRINCETON — The GFWC Woman’s Club of Princeton will meet at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 14 at the Prouty Building in Princeton. Bonnie Bangert will lead the group in creating handcrafted Valentines. Members should also bring additional Valentines to be sent to residents of the veterans nursing home in LaSalle. Clara Pease and Joanne Swan will serve as the social committee. For more information, contact president Clara Pease at 815-872-0430. Visitors and prospective members are welcome to attend.

Breakfast planned

LAMOILLE — The LaMoille Lions Club will serve an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 13 at the Lions Club, 308 Howard St., LaMoille. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, eggs, ham, toast, milk, juice and coffee. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for ages 5-10.

Annual gala

PRINCETON — The Prairie Arts Council’s 18th annual gala, Mardi Gras Masquerade, will be held Saturday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Underground Inn, Princeton.  Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served throughout the evening, with jazz entertainment provided by Al and Jeanne Brown.  The evening will include Live and Silent Auctions as well as a tribute to local educator and musician, Doris Hamilton, for her lifetime achievements in the arts.  For tickets ($30 per person), please contact PAC at 815-875-2787 or via email at [ mailto:info@theprairieartscouncil.org ]info@theprairieartscouncil.org.

Genealogy meeting
 
OTTAWA — The LaSalle County Genealogy Guild will meet at 1 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Guild Library, 115 W. Glover St. in Ottawa. Speaker for the month is Kane Farabaugh, Midwest bureau chief for Voice of America.
 
Benefit sale
 
SPRING VALLEY — Lily’s Belle of the Ball Boutique will hold a prom/graduation/homecoming dress and accessory sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 2 at St. Anthony Parish Hall in Spring Valley. Trivia night fundraiser
 
PERU — The Zonta Club of LaSalle-Peru invites all Illinois Valley residents to participate in an upcoming Trivia Night fundraiser Feb. 8 at the Peru Eagles, 830 Harrison St. Doors open at 6 p.m. and play starts at 7 p.m. Six to 10 players per table. Cost is $10 per person.  Prizes will be paid for the first, second and third-place teams. Barbecue, nachos, and other snacks will be available for purchase. There will be a cash bar.
