A trip down Memory Lane

Ernie Ernst of Princeton brought in this photo of his father Joel Ernst, taken about 1910. The photo shows Joel Ernst in Hancock County with his “courting buggy” and horse named Dewey. “This was like having a Cadillac or Mercedes in those days,” he said. Ernst said Dewey lived to a ripe old age, and after he died, his hide was made into a lap robe for Joel Ernst’s sofa.
