Pyszka takes over, Bruins topple Hall

PERU — County line foes St. Bede and Hall tipped off against one another Saturday night in boys’ basketball at the Academy. Though it looked like it would get more competitive in the second half, St. Bede’s Joe Pyszka kept scoring and scoring, eventually leading his team to a 65-32 victory.

Pyszka had nearly half of St. Bede’s total with 26 points. Hall’s Brett Fanning, one of the area’s best offensive players, was held to 11 points.

Pyszka got started quickly netting nine points in the first. He stayed consistent in the second, adding another seven points. Fanning and the Red Devils were unable to keep pace with Pyszka and his supporting cast with enough gusto to turn the game around.
