DIXON – The 2013 Alzheimer’s Association Legislative Priorities Event is set for 3 p.m. Jan. 23 at Sauk Valley Community College, Lecture Hall 1K4, 173 Illinois Route 2, Dixon. Every year, the chapter brings together area leaders to provide updates on legislation, research and community projects related to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Planned topics and speakers include: 2013 federal and state legislative priorities; legislative update by Judy Buchanan of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Illinois Chapter Network; Alzheimer’s research updates by Drs. Ken Fukuchi and Julia Biernot of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria; safety services and community preparedness information by Nikki Vulgaris, executive director of the Central Illinois Chapter; and updates from area legislators.
