Marquette 43, Princeton 27: The Tigresses battled back from a tough first half in which they committed 16 turnovers, shot 6 of 22 from the field and trailed 29-14 at intermission. PHS responded in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Cru 9-5 to trim the lead, but was unable to get any closer.
“Princeton out-hustled us virtually the entire game. They came up with most of the loose balls and rebounds. Give them credit. They outplayed us tonight,” Marquette coach Todd Hopkins told the Ottawa Times.
While making 16 turnovers in the first half, PHS committed just five in the second. Its shooting woes continued, however, finishing 10 of 44 overall. The Tigresses controlled the boards, outrebounding the Cru 39-31, paced by Emmalee Sears’ 10 caroms.
