IVCH’s Ficek is certified diabetes educator

PERU — Rene Ficek, a registered dietitian at Illinois Valley Community Hospital, has achieved Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) status from the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) by successfully completing NCBDE’s certification examination.

The NCBDE says candidates must meet rigorous eligibility requirements to be eligible for certification. Achieving the CDE credential demonstrates to people with diabetes the health care professional possesses distinct and specialized knowledge, thereby promoting a high quality of care.

Ficek, who came to IVCH in 2010, is a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a degree in nutrition and dietetics. She completed a supervised practice/internship at the University of Iowa.
