Permit need for solicitors

Dalzell will post signs

DALZELL — Dalzell residents will see new entrance signs coming into the village after an unnerving experience with solicitors visiting homes after dark.

“We were getting calls,” Dalzell Village President Gloria Orlandi said. “It was dark, and people were knocking on doors. They were scared.”

The village called the sheriff’s department which sent an officer, but he couldn’t enforce the town’s ordinances. The new signs not only will have a welcoming message, but also state there is no soliciting in the town without a permit.
