Red Devils bowl over St. Bede, Ottawa

The Hall bowling teams swept both matches over St. Bede at the Super Bowl Wednesday.

In the boys’ match, the Red Devils rolled to a 3,324-3,001 victory with David McManus rolling a 650 series. St. Bede was led by Devin Forbes (575).

Kaitlyn Padgett (521) led the Lady Devils to a 2,563-2,220 victory. For St. Bede, Claudia Szczepaniak rolled a 419 series.

On Thursday, the Hall boys defeated host Ottawa 3425-3210. Al Baldonado threw a high series of 663 with David McManus adding a 605. Payton Baker (503) led the Hall JV in defeat.

Girls’ basketball

Peoria Christian 55, Putnam County 45: Peoria Christian won a preview of a potential championship game of the Tri-County Conference tournament Thursday at Peoria. Christian (17-3) is the top seed in TCC Tournament which starts Saturday at Ottawa Marquette. No. 2 Putnam County will also bring in a 17-3 record.

The Lady Panthers held a 29-28 halftime lead, but were outscored 27-16 in the second half. Daniela Pavlovich (14) and Carly Gonet (13) combined for 27 points for the hosts.

Newark 63, LaMoille/Ohio 37: Shiela Browning had 10 points for the Lady Lions and Kaitlyn Hughes had seven and Stefanie Ridge. LaMoille/Ohio honored four seniors on Senior Night — Ridge, Amanda Chasteen, Missy Dunn and Mary Pinter.

L-P 44, Hall 25: Brittany Zawacki (13 points) and the Lady Cavs put this one away early Wednesday with a 19-2 first-quarter lead.

Amboy 42, Bureau Valley 19: Autumn Smith (14) and Brooke Lovgren (13) combined for 27 points as the Lady Clippers topped the Storm for the second time this week. Nicole Bornsheuer had seven points and Krista Naaktgeboren six for the Storm.

Freshman basketball

Bureau Valley 44, Erie 42: A last-second shot by Jacob “Skid” Pogliano lifted the Storm to a Three Rivers victory at the Storm Cellar Wednesday.

Princeton 36, IVC 34: Skye Behrends had 17 points as the Tigers spooked the Ghosts by two points.

Youth wrestling

Additions to Tiger Town Tanglers place-winners from Sunday’s Geneseo Open are: Tristan Lasson, Robert Nelson, Conner McKenney, Augie Christiansen, Kody Mongan, Matthew Harris, Conner Dickens, Chase Sexton, Alexander Peck, Joseph Peacock and Shaylynn Hartmann in second place, and Brayden Boyles, Anthony Vujanov, Brody Reviglio, Trenton Wilson, Peyton O’Toole, Gio Romagnoli and Charlie Korey in third place.
