DEPUE — Hall traveled down to DePue to face the Lady Giants in a lopsided matchup Thursday night. Neither team is having an ideal season but Hall, while stumbling and bumbling a bit, was able to win big 57-16.
The host Lady Giants played their neighbors to a 11-5 score after one quarter. Hall took off in the second quarter with a 15-1 surge to take a 26-6 halftime lead.
Lady Devil Kaylee Golden led her team with 13 points. Teammate Ellen Herrmann netted 10 points. DePue senior Alicia Marquez scored eight points in the effort.
Both coaches were happy with their teams.
“Everybody but one person scored. They tossed the ball well and looked for each other and shared the ball well. It was a good team effort,” Hall coach Mike Struna said.
DePue coach Jim Barto praised his team.
“That was probably the best all-around total game that we’ve played all year. They did a lot of good things,” he said. “They were able to make some adjustments on their own. When they found some lanes to move through they saw them on their own. Our expectations this year were to basically have the girls learn more than one spot, be able to learn more about the game, be able to think on their feet instead having to worry about where they have to go on the floor.”
Barto also said the Lady Giants had the most shots they’ve had all year.
