Peoria Christian (15-3) is seeded No. 1 and Putnam County (17-2) is No. 2 for the TCC Tournament which starts Saturday at Ottawa Marquette. A potential TCC preview Thursday in Peoria saw Peoria Christian topped Putnam County 55-45.

The games will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday with Peoria Christian facing No. 8 DePue, followed by No. 4 RB/LW vs. No. 5 Midland at 1 p.m., PCHS vs. No. 7 Henry-Senachwine at 2:30 p.m. and No. 3 Marquette vs. No. 6 Hall at 4 p.m.

Monday's semifinals will pit the winners of games 1-2 at 6 p.m and winners of games 3-4 at 7:30 p.m. Consolation play will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16, with the finals slate for Thursday, Jan. 17.

• Little Ten girls: Newark (16-1, 60) was awarded with the No. 1 seed for the Little Ten girls' tournament, which starts Monday at Serena. The Norseman own a 53-27 win over No. 2 Serena on Dec. 10.

Newark, which is a winner of the Somonauk Breakout and Lisle Christmas Cage Classic championships, will be idle until Tuesday, when it draws the winner between No. 8 Leland-Earlville and No. 9 LaMoille/Ohio at 5 p.m. Monday.

Serena will play No. 7 Hiawatha at 6 :30 p.m. Monday followed by No. 3 HBR vs. No. 6 Paw Paw.

Newark is also top-seeded in the LTC F/S Tournament which gets underway Saturday at Serena. No. 6 LaMoille/Ohio faces No. 3 Indian Creek at 1:30 p.m.

Poll watching: Three area girls teams and one boys team are ranked in this week's AP State basketball poll. Wethersfield has both teams with the girls ranked for the first time at No. 9 and its boys tied for 10th. Annawan stands No. 2 for 1A girls with Prophetstown at No. 8. Henry's boys received one vote

Last-second shots: Bureau Valley lost senior point guard Frank Gebeck indefinitely to a broke collarbone sustained in a snowboard mishap. BV coach Jason Marquis said they are hopeful for a quick recovery. ... Henry and Putnam County drew the top two seeds for the Tri-County Conference boys tournament which starts Jan. 21 in Granville. Hall, which beat Henry 66-55 Tuesday in double overtime, drew the 5 seed behind Woodland and Peoria Christian.
