Kaitlyn Padgett and the Hall girls’ bowling team were on a roll in Saturday’s Lady Devil Invitational at Ladd Lanes Saturday.

Padgett rolled a six-game series of 1,133, more than 150 pins more than the next closest competitor, Barbi Prokup (880) of St. Bede. As a team, Hall knocked down 4,205 pins to top Mendota (3,777) and St. Bede (3,502).

Other top bowlers for Hall were third place Cherokee Gillespie (867), eighth-place Stephanie Stocking (768) and ninth-place Clarissa Gerard (758).

Heidi Nelson (798), Nicole Whitten (684) and Liz Luscietto (651) led the Hall JV to the team title as well.

At Amboy: St. Bede placed third in Saturday’s Amboy Invitational. SBA coach Sean Hobson said it all came down to the fifth-place match victory from freshman John Barnes over Durand at 285 pounds. He said, if Barnes, a freshmen wrestling for the very first time, “doesn’t win it, the third-place trophy goes the other way.”

The Bruins secured third place with 101 points ahead of Durand (101) in a 13-team field headed by Eureka (163.5) and Amboy (142).

“We held our own. To finish in the top three is a pretty good accomplishment for a seven-year program,” Hobson said.

James Peacock was the top place-finisher for the Bruins as runner-up at 132. The Bruins had nine place-finishers in all, including thirds to Brendan Zimmerman (195), Chris Kerasotes (170), fourths to Anthony Schneider (126), Adam Hunter (145), Sam Bennett (182) and Joe Caulfield (220) and a fifth by Nick Puhr (152).
