Illinois Valley Youth Choir announces spring registration
LASALLE — The Illinois Valley Youth Choir announces its spring registration, which will be held in the LaSalle-Peru High School choral room.
The choir provides professional vocal instruction to girls and boys (with unchanged voices) in grades 3-8 by exploring choral music in fun and imaginative ways. Children are led to develop healthy singing techniques while becoming familiar with a wide variety of musical repertoire. To learn more, visit www.ivyouthchoir.org.
Voice checks are informal and previous musical experience is not required.
Registration will be the evening of Friday and Saturday morning. To schedule a 20-minute appointment, call Paula Castelli, choir manager, at 815-433-4898.
The choir meets on Tuesdays from 5 to 6:15 p.m. Choir placement is determined by the director after evaluating each child’s vocal readiness, maturity and experience.
The Illinois Valley Youth Choir is a non-profit group which receives financial
support from the Illinois Valley Fine Arts Trust. Students pay $65 tuition to cover the costs of music and instruction for the entire semester (Jan. 22 to April 28). Scholarships are available to those with financial need. The choir is also available for a limited number of public performances within the community.
The next major concert is scheduled for 4 p.m. April 28.
The choral room at L-P High School is located in the rear, southwest corner of the main building. (Outside door M19.) When coming to audition, follow the small driveway off of Eighth Street (in Peru) that runs alongside the practice field.
