Lucile White
LASALLE — Lucile E. White, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle.
Lucile was born Sept. 16, 1923, in Litchfield to Raymond and Mary Walker. She graduated from Lanphier High School in Springfield. She continued her education at St. John's School of Nursing. After graduating as a registered nurse, she enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II when she served her country caring for returning wounded soldiers.
It was at an Army-Navy function that Lucile met her future husband, Robert B. White. They were married in November 1945. In 1953, Bob and Lucile moved to Bob's hometown, Princeton, where Lucile spent her entire nursing career at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton. Lucile also took extra training to serve colostomy patients; an example of a life well served in service to others.
