Making time for music

Area musicians rehearse for Friday’s bluegrass, gospel and country music jam set for 6 to 10 p.m. Jan. 18, at the First Lutheran Church in Princeton, located at 116 N. Pleasant St.

The music jams are typically planned on the third Friday of each month with musicians and listeners welcome to attend. Snacks and soft drinks are also available. Owen Johnson, current organizer, said the jams have been going on for about seven years. Musicians come from all over the area, as far away as the Quad Cities, Harding, Marseilles and Earlville. There is no charge to get into the jam, but donations are accepted. People may come and go as they have time.

Proceeds from the monthly jams, after expenses, are given back to the host church, Johnson said.
