What is the church?

Most of us think of the church as the building where we go for worship on Sunday or some other day, but is this building really a church? Jesus said in Matthew 16:18 I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Was that church to be a building made of wood and stone or some other material? No, it was made up of people, those that are called out. The word church in the Greek is Ekklesia, which means called out one; these make up the church that Jesus built.

The word church is written probably 60 or 70 times in the New Testament and never translates the word to mean a building. There are buildings scattered all over the cities, all having different names and doctrines. Some even claim that theirs is the only true church, and if you don't belong to their church, you can not be saved. They will tell you almost anything to get you to become a member of their church. I know this to be true because my parents and brother were members of one of these churches who believed this, but they could never convince me.

The main trouble with man is that we do not study the Bible but just believe whatever we are taught, and it is so easy to be deceived. Some will never accept the truth for God has blinded some so they will not accept the truth at this time. He also states that a person doesn't want to know the truth he would send them strong delusions that they would believe a lie. There are some good teachers out there that teach God's word the way it should be taught, and not the traditions of men that make void the word of God.
